our motto

“SERVE MAN IS TO SERVE GOD”

It’s a crazy thing that people go around in search of God!!!! And we do spend a lot of money for the same. But the truth is that God is within ourselves. God never asks us for fruits and flowers at temple, mosques or church!!!..but we give all these things to Him. There are a lot of people who stay in the slums and in more poor situations in our country, running out of money. Why can’t we serve our people who are in hunger, who are in need, than keeping our money in resting condition in our prayer centres??

Yes!!! Serving others is the service to God…

The word ‘serve’ is derived from the Greek word, ‘diakoneo’ which inturn is derived from the Hebrew word, ‘abad’ which means ‘to serve’ or ‘work as a slave’. This word doesn’t show the power of authority, but it implies the real truth of humbleness.

“A servant is a person who submits his own will in order to please his master and others without any assurance of reward. It is absolutely obligated for service rendering to the master according to his will and wishes.”

Only the fruits of service will be eternal. We must constantly engage ourselves in service to others. God has given us this body for that purpose only. This body is not meant to be engaged in mere eating and drinking and thus wasting our valuable time. We must realize the truth that God has given us this body for serving others. There is nothing greater than service to humanity. Service to man is service to God. All great men have sanctified their life only by serving humanity.

We should serve all the people without any discrimination of age, sex, colour, caste, creed etc. The best example is the Life of Jesus Christ. In Mark 10 : 45, its said, “For even the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and give His life a ransom for many.”

The Holy Bible quotes, “Jesus rose from supper, and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. After that, He poured the water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.”

The only way of getting our divine nature manifested is by helping and serving others. This is the gist of all worship – to be pure and to do good to others. He who sees God in the poor, in the weak and in the diseased, really worships God, and if he sees God only in the image, his worship is but preliminary.

Jesus said, “Whatsoever you do to the least of your brethren, you do it unto me.” To serve God is to serve others and is the greatest form of charity, the pure love of Christ. The foremost activity of all humanbeing is the service to his fellowbeings. The best way to Love God is to love all and serve all. We can’t give a life, but we can save a life.

Once, while Sadhu Sunder Singh was in Tibet, rushing home with a friend on a bitterly cold winter evening, they noticed a man lying stiff from the cold and snow on the wayside. Sadhu tried to rescue him by carrying the frozen man on his back. The friend shouted to Sadhu to run home as quickly as possible if he wanted to save his own life. However, Sadhu did not listen to him. Instead, he trudged along slowly with the half frozen man on his back. As they kept moving uphill, the warmth from Sadhu’s body helped the frozen man’s body also to thaw and he came to life. As they hurried forward, they found the man who fled for his life, now lying dead on the wayside, stiff and frozen from the extreme cold. As Jesus said, “the man who loved his life lost it, but the man who denied his life gained his, and the other man’s.”

Mother Theresa revealed the love of Christ in her service to mankind. Moreover, Graham Stains and his family, came to India, lived with the tribes in Orissa, served the poor people especially, Leprosy patients, washed their wounds, helped and cared them in the Agape Love of Christ. If we can’t love the person whom we see, how can we love God whom we cannot see?

Thomas Paine quotes, “A man doesnot serve God when he prays, for it is himself, he is trying to serve.” In fact, the hands are given to you to serve humanity. The hands that serve are holier than the lips that pray. Let us undertake selfless service and attain glory. Submit our selfish motives and serve people without aiming any reward. Jesus made himself available to people in need and hunger. Are we available to serve the poor and needy??
